Sopore, October 12 (JKNS): In a bid to ensure compliance with labour laws, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Rahil Ameen conducted a thorough inspection of the Sopore market following complaints of non-payment of minimum wages and non-observance of Sunday holidays by shopkeepers.
As per news agency JKNS that several shopkeepers were fined on the spot for violating labour regulations. The ALC directed all business owners to ensure that salesmen are paid a minimum wage of ₹311 per day.
He emphasized strict adherence to labour laws, warning that further violations would attract stringent penalties. Plans were also announced to organize awareness programmes for salesmen and traders to educate them about their rights and responsibilities.
For regular monitoring, the ALC instructed labour inspectors to visit the market on Sundays to check compliance. Any shopkeeper found violating the rules will face legal action.
