Over 4,700 J&K Schools Participate in India’s Largest Student Innovation Challenge

Srinagar, Oct 13 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir witnessed massive participation in India’s largest live school innovation challenge, the Viksit Bharat Buildathon (VBB) 2025, inaugurated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on Monday.

As per details available with news agency JKNS, Over 4,700 schools from J&K took part in the nationwide event.

the event saw more than 3 lakh schools and over one crore students from across India engage in a 120-minute innovation session, details stated.

Students worked in teams to develop prototypes around themes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi, with schools from remote and frontier areas directly connected to share their projects.

Dharmendra Pradhan lauded the students’ creativity and emphasized that a Viksit and Samriddh Bharat will be built on their talent. He expressed confidence that the ideas emerging from the Buildathon would help address domestic and global challenges, encouraging students to actively contribute to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.

J&K’s participation was among the highest in the Union Territories, reflecting growing engagement in innovation and skill-based learning. Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, said initiatives like VBB strengthen students’ innovative capabilities, while Shri Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission, highlighted that the movement is connecting schools from India’s remotest areas to urban centers, fostering a nationwide culture of innovation.
