Leh, Oct 17 (JKNS): The Leh district administration has imposed prohibitory restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, following reports of potential threats to public peace and order in the area.
An order, issued by District Magistrate Romil Singh Donk (IAS) as per news agency JKNS, orders came following a report from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Leh highlighting potential threats to public tranquillity.
The order bars the holding of processions, rallies, or marches without prior written permission from competent authorities. The use of loudspeakers, including vehicle-mounted systems, has also been prohibited unless specifically approved.
Additionally, the order restricts the assembly of five or more persons and prohibits any statements or activities that could disturb public peace or lead to law and order issues.
The order, passed ex-parte, states that any violation will invite strict action under Section 223 of the BNSS, 2023. The restrictions have been enforced with immediate effect to maintain stability and public order in the district. (JKNS)
