Srinagar, Nov 3 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the withholding of salaries of 18 Block Development Officers (BDOs) for their poor performance in completing e-KYC verification of MGNREGA workers.

An order issued by the Secretary to the Government as per news agency JKNS, during a review meeting held on November 2, 2025, it was observed that several blocks had achieved far below the Union Territory average of 49.68%, reflecting dereliction of duties on the part of concerned officers. The deadline for completion of e-KYC was set for October 31, 2025.

In view of the dismal performance, it has been directed that the BDOs of the underperforming blocks shall not draw their salaries for October 2025, if not already drawn, and will remain ineligible for November salary unless they achieve the prescribed e-KYC targets.

The 18 blocks listed in the order include Kupwara (3.37%), Trehgam (7.32%), Rajwara (9.83%), Herri Qadirabad (10.41%), Panthal (11.41%), Kalaroose (15.00%), Harwan (15.76%), Sogam (16.39%), Kralpora (16.55%), Ramhal (18.72%), Magam (17.75%), Nadihal (19.27%), Khonmoh (20.19%), Reddi Chowkibal (21.93%), Qaziabad (22.55%), Srinagar (22.81%), and Thakrakote (23.74%).

The order emphasized strict accountability, directing that salaries would only be released once the officers achieve the monthly e-KYC targets in their respective jurisdictions. (JKNS)
