Anantnag, Nov 4 (JKNS): The Food Safety Department in Anantnag has ordered banning the sale of KK Brand Atta (Batch No. A-22) after tests revealed it contained insects, making it unsafe for consumption.
An order issued by Food department Anantnag, as per news agency JKNS reads that, the Atta, manufactured by K.K Roller Flour Mills at EPIP, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu, was procured by the Food Safety Officer, Mattan, and tested at the Food Laboratory, Kashmir. The lab report (FSSA/K/2025-26/MR-5551, dated 17-10-2025) confirmed the product as unfit for consumption.
Sheikh Zameer Ahmad, Designated Officer, Food Safety, Anantnag, said the move is in accordance with Section 36(3)(b) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and aims to safeguard public health.
The sale of this product is strictly prohibited across the Anantnag district until further notice, and the public has been warned against consuming it.
Authorities have instructed all vendors to immediately remove the affected product from the market to prevent health hazards. (JKNS)
