Srinagar, Nov 4 (JKNS): The higher reaches of Kashmir, including the famous hill stations of Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Gurez, witnessed the season’s fresh snowfall on Tuesday, while widespread rains lashed the Valley, dipping temperatures sharply across the region.
According to reports reaching news agency JKNS, light to moderate snowfall was recorded in Razdan Top, Furkiyan Top, Doodhpathri, and parts of Kupwara, painting the upper stretches of the Valley in white.
Earlier in the day, strong gusty winds swept through several parts of the Valley, including Srinagar, before the evening showers intensified the cold wave across Jammu and Kashmir.
Director Meteorological Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said the weather will remain generally cloudy on November 5 with the possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall over higher reaches of Kashmir and scattered areas in the Jammu division.
However, he added that dry weather conditions are likely to prevail from November 6 to 15, bringing relief from precipitation but continuing the cold spell, with both maximum and minimum temperatures expected to drop further.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the Anantnag–Sinthan–Kishtwar road (NH-244) will remain closed for vehicular movement until further notice after fresh snowfall blocked the Sinthan Pass, cutting off the vital link between the two regions. (JKNS)
