Baramulla Police Crack Down on Illegal Pet Shop, Rescues Multiple Animals

Baramulla, Nov 4 (JKNS): In a decisive action against illegal pet trade, Baramulla Police on Wednesday rescued several animals from an unlicensed pet shop in the town.

Baramulla, Nov 04 (KNC): Baramulla Police on Wednesday rescued animals from the premises of unlicensed pet shop.

Pilice Spokesperson In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, acting on a complaint received from Animal Aid Kashmir an Anantnag-based NGO conducted a joint inspection at Zain Pet Store, Baramulla, in coordination with representatives from the Wildlife Protection Department and the Municipal Council Baramulla.

During the inspection, several animals were rescued from the premises and handed over to the NGO on proper receipt through the Wildlife Department, it reads.

Accordingly, action under Section 36 of the Police Act has been initiated at Police Station Baramulla. The shopkeeper has also been directed to close the shop until a valid licence is obtained, it reads.

Baramulla Police reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of animals and urges the public to report any incidents related to animal cruelty or illegal animal trade, reads the statement. (JKNS)
