Kulgam, Nov 5 (JKNS): The Inter-District UT Level Under-17 and Under-19 Boys Karate Championship 2025 commenced today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, here. The event was inaugurated by DySP (DAR) Kulgam, Mohd Ayoub, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. DSP Arun Gupta was also present during the inaugural ceremony.
Teams from 13 districts across J&K are participating in the tournament. Player reporting was completed a day earlier, on November 4.
The event is being hosted by the Youth Services and Sports Department, under the overall supervision of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
The championship offers a golden opportunity for young athletes who have already excelled at the inter-school, inter-zone, and district levels. The best performers from this event will be shortlisted for the Jammu and Kashmir UT-level team, which will later represent the Union Territory at the national level.
Speaking on the occasion, DySP (DAR) emphasized that the government is deeply committed to promoting sports and nurturing young talent. “Sports is not only about competition it’s about discipline, teamwork, and growth.
The Government is ensuring that our youth receive every possible support and facility, from the inter-school level to the national stage,” he said.
He further stated that initiatives like these play a vital role in strengthening the sports culture in th UT and provide a platform for emerging players to showcase their skills and achieve excellence.
All Zpeos of YSS Kulgam especially Mr Nisar Ah Wani and ZPEO D H Pora Ab Majeed Rather was also present on this occasion. (JKNS)
