Exit Polls Banned for 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency Bye-Election

Budgam, Nov 6 (JKNS): The District Election Office, Budgam, has informed media outlets that the Election Commission of India has issued an official Gazette Notification regarding the prohibition of exit polls for the upcoming Bye-Election to 27–Budgam Assembly Constituency, 2025.

In a notification as per news agency JKNS, no individual, print or electronic media outlet is allowed to conduct or publicize exit polls between 7:00 AM on November 6, 2025, and 6:30 PM on November 11, 2025. Violation of this order could attract imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both, as per Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

The District Election Office (DEO) Budgam has urged all media houses and political stakeholders to adhere strictly to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission to ensure a free and fair election process.

The notification further clarifies that any display of election results, opinion polls, or survey data on electronic media within 48 hours of the conclusion of polling is strictly prohibited, reinforcing the Election Commission’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. (JKNS)
