Tangdhar, Nov 6 (JKNS): In a heartbreaking incident, a devastating fire engulfed two residential houses in Tangdhar on Thursday evening, leaving more than seven families homeless and in deep distress.

The blaze, which broke out under mysterious circumstances, reduced the homes of Khursheed Sheikh, son of Late Mehta Sheikh, and Yaseen Kadla to ashes within moments.

According to locals, over five families were residing in the house of Khursheed Sheikh, while two families lived in the adjoining house of Yaseen Kadla. Both structures were completely gutted, and all belongings turned to cinders before help could reach. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported, though the affected families suffered severe material losses, losing not just their shelter but their lifelong possessions.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and sorrow as residents struggled to save whatever they could. “It was horrifying flames rose high, and within minutes, everything was gone,” said one local resident tearfully.

Responding promptly, the Indian Army, Fire and Emergency Services, and Civil Administration rushed to the site. With tireless efforts and coordination, they managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time. The administration has assured full support and immediate relief to the affected families.

This tragic incident has cast a shadow of grief across the community, with neighbors and social organizations stepping forward to provide assistance. Many have called for stronger preventive measures and safety awareness in the region to avert such disasters in the future.

As the charred remains of the two houses still smolder, what remains unburnt is the resilience and unity of the people of Tangdhar, who continue to stand together in the face of adversity. (JKNS)
