Kupwara, Nov 8 (JKNS): In a significant success against narcotics smuggling, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Border Security Force (BSF) jointly recovered suspected narcotics during a coordinated operation in Tangdhar, Kupwara.

The operation, code-named “Operation Hajitra,” was launched following specific intelligence input received from Police Station Taad.

Acting swiftly on the information, a search operation was carried out in Hajitra village, during which the forces discovered a discreetly concealed package from the residence of Mr. Mohd Shafi Sheikh, located in Sheikh Mohalla, Ward No. 1. The recovered package contained approximately 800 grams of a brown solid substance, suspected to be high-grade heroin.

Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Officials stated that the successful outcome of Operation Hajitra underscores the strong coordination and synergy between the Army, Police, and BSF in countering cross-border smuggling and drug trafficking activities in the region.

“This operation highlights our collective commitment to dismantle illicit networks and protect society from the menace of narcotics,” said a senior police officer.

The security agencies reaffirmed their resolve to maintain law and order and to continue their relentless efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal substances along the Line of Control and adjoining areas. (JKNS)
