Srinagar, Nov 9 (JKNS): Veteran Kashmiri journalist, prolific writer, poet and author Fayaz Dilbar passed away on Sunday evening.

As per news agency JKNS, Mr Fayaz Dilbar breathed his last this evening after battling for life in a Srinagar hospital.

Late Fayaz Dilbar was suffering from a lung ailment; thereafter, he suffered a heart attack.

Late Dilbar started his journalistic career with the Urdu daily “Srinagar Times” and thereafter launched his own local news agency called “KNB” along with his associate Imdad Saqi.

He later shifted to New Delhi with liberal journalist Vinod Dua, Editor of Frontline Magazine, and Fayaz Dilbar got engaged with short film-making in New Delhi and temporarily settled there for over two decades.

Late Fayaz originally hailed from Srinagar Downtown (Raiza Kadal) and had later shifted to Harwan in Srinagar after permanently moving from New Delhi.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, the Press Club of Kashmir expressed grief and sorrow over the passing of the veteran Kashmiri journalist, prolific writer, poet and author Mr Fayaz Dilbar, on Sunday evening after battling for life in a Srinagar hospital.

President Press Club of Kashmir, Mohammad Saleem, recalled that Late Fayaz Dilbar’s humour would mesmerise listeners. He would visit my office to share lighter moments and crack jokes and quickly leave, given his hasty nature. I regret that I could not visit him at Harwan after I spoke to him on the phone last week, and he guided me with the address of his home at Harwan.

“I pray to Almighty Allah to grant Jannat to Fayaz Dilbar and bestow patience on the grieved family members, including his wife and son,” he said.

Similarly, Tehreek Baqaie Urdu and Anjuman Literary Forum, under the convenorship of Fakherul Din Ali Ahmad (Kashmir Chapter), have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of noted journalist, author, poet and playwright Faiyaz Dilbar, who passed away recently in Srinagar.

In a condolence message, Imdad Saqi, Convenor Tehreek Baqaie Urdu, Anjuman Literary Forum and Convenor Fakherul Din Ali Ahmad (Kashmir Chapter), described the demise of Faiyaz Dilbar as an irreparable loss to the Urdu literary and journalistic circles of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Faiyaz was not only my colleague but also my companion from the early years when we together ran the KNB News Agency from Dar Building, Madina Chowk,” Saqi said. “His journey from Maharaj Gunj to Delhi was marked by dedication, literary brilliance and journalistic integrity. He embodied the spirit of Urdu with an unwavering commitment to truth and art.”

The statement noted that, on the suggestion of veteran journalist Vinod Dua, Faiyaz later moved to Delhi, where he built a distinguished career as a journalist, author and playwright.

The organisations extended heartfelt condolences to his wife, Nasreen Mohsin, and the bereaved family, praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.

“Faiyaz Dilbar will be remembered for his intellect, warmth and lasting contributions to Urdu journalism and literature,” the statement added. (JKNS)
