Kulgam, Nov 10 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained efforts to uproot the terror ecosystem from the grassroots level, Kulgam Police on Monday carried out a massive crackdown across multiple locations in the district.
Police Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS said, The operation targeted Over Ground Workers (OGWs), UAPA and PSA accused persons, sympathisers, and relatives of killed and active terrorists, particularly in areas where encounters had earlier taken place.
During the operation, eight relatives of J&K Nationals Operating from Pak/PoK (JKNOPs) and OGWs were detained and shifted to jail under preventive laws. Several suspects were also questioned, and multiple houses were searched.
In a parallel legal move, Kulgam Police has filed 16 applications for cancellation of bail granted to accused persons booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
This action is part of Kulgam Police’s Zero-Tolerance Policy towards terrorism and its support networks.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier, Kulgam Police had initiated strong action against JKNOPs and SIM card vendors involved in facilitating terror communication channels.
