Srinagar, Nov 10: Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir on Monday attached an under-construction double-storey residential house valued at over ₹44 lakh belonging to a known drug peddler from Budgam, following a detailed financial investigation.
According to the spokesperson, in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, the attachment was carried out in the presence of officials from the Revenue Department along with the concerned Lambardar and Chowkidar. The property, owned by Rouf Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Majeed Bhat, resident of Churumujru Beerwah was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The house was identified as an illegally acquired asset during the financial probe conducted by P/S ANTF Kashmir under Section 68-E in FIR No. 02/2024. Investigators established that the property had been raised using proceeds from illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The accused is currently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar under judicial custody.
The statement added that the action reflects ANTF Kashmir’s firm commitment to dismantling narcotics networks and ensuring community safety. The police reiterated that strict legal measures under the NDPS Act will continue against offenders and their illegally acquired assets.
Locals have widely appreciated the move, terming it a strong step towards curbing the drug menace and discouraging properties built from narcotics proceeds. (JKNS)
