Srinagar, November 11:Er Aijaz Hussain, DDC Member and Co-Incharge Minority Morcha, UT of J&K, today attended the Finals of the Jammu & Kashmir UT Thang-Ta Championship as the Chief Guest at the Indoor Stadium, Srinagar. The grand sporting event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 500 athletes from various age groups and districts of the Union Territory showcasing their skill, energy, and determination. Teams from several reputed educational institutions, including DPS Srinagar and GD Goenka School, also took part in the championship finals.

Er Aijaz Hussain distributed medals and awards among the finalists and congratulated the winners for their exceptional performances. He lauded the participants for demonstrating remarkable discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship, calling them shining examples of J&K’s emerging sporting talent.

Addressing the gathering, Er Aijaz Hussain emphasized that sports are essential for building discipline, focus, and positive character among youth. He said that regular engagement in sports not only promotes physical fitness and teamwork but also helps in keeping the younger generation away from drugs and other harmful distractions. “Our youth have immense potential to excel and make Jammu & Kashmir proud at national and international levels,” he remarked.

He also expressed special appreciation for the girls and their parents for their active participation and achievements, describing their success as a reflection of women’s empowerment and progress in the Union Territory.

The championship was organized by the J&K Thang-Ta Association and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, as part of ongoing efforts to promote traditional martial arts and nurture young athletes at the grassroots level.

Er Aijaz Hussain reaffirmed his commitment to promoting youth empowerment and sports development, stating that sports foster unity, strength, and a sense of national pride among the younger generation of Jammu & Kashmir.
