Throughout the festival, a distinguished galaxy of guests were in attendance. Jenab Farooq Ahmed Shah (MLA Gulmarg), Jenab Mubarak Gul (MLA), Jenab Mohd Yusuf Tarigami (MLA Kulgam) and Sh. K K Sidha (Director Archaeology) were the guests on the closing ceremony.

Day 2 featured a compelling panel discussion on “Is cinema the mirror of society or does society influence cinema?”, with Mir Sarwar, Lalit Parimoo, and Kapil Mattoo. Festival Director Rakesh Roshan Bhat, who was also part of the panel, reflected that audiences must be mindful of what they consume because cinema has the power to influence thought and behaviour and therefore society must create avenues where cinema inspires positively.

The session was moderated by Rohini Vaishnavi. A gripping masterclass by Ashwath Bhatt captivated audiences with life lessons, acting insights, and powerful anecdotes

Day 3 witnessed a packed local filmmakers’ showcase, where films by native Kashmiri directors deeply resonated with audiences. In one of the most heartwarming gestures of the festival, TIFFS felicitated 122 actors, directors, and technicians from Kashmir, celebrating their contribution to cinema and performing arts. A scintillating performance by the Bismal Band added musical richness to the celebrations.

Advisor TIFFS Dr. Amit Wanchoo expressed that TIFFS has grown into a cultural movement that energises youth and builds confidence in Kashmir’s creative future. Bhavna Pandita, Advisor Vomedh, shared that the festival reflects the living spirit of harmony, culture, and artistic pride in the Valley. Festival Director Rohit Bhat noted that TIFFS—having received over 700 films from nearly 50 countries over its four editions is “rediscovering Kashmir through cinema and connecting it to the world with dignity and pride.”

A special tribute to legendary music composer Madan Mohan ji, in his centenary year, was presented during the opening ceremony through a documentary on his life and legacy.

With vibrant participation, international submissions, and strong representation from local talent, TIFFS 2025 has reaffirmed Srinagar’s place as a growing hub of art, culture, and cinematic exchange. (JKNS)
