Srinagar, Nov 15 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a key security review meeting at Raj Bhavan, a day after the late-night accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station claimed nine lives and left 32 others injured, officials informed JKNS.
Senior officers from police, administration and intelligence agencies briefed the LG on the ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks and the measures currently underway across Kashmir.
Those present included Chief Secretary Atal Dullo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DGP S J M Gillani and ADG CID Nitish Kumar.
According to officials, Sinha voiced deep sorrow over the loss of lives and sought a time-bound inquiry to determine the precise cause of the explosion.
The blast occurred at approximately 11:20 pm on Friday when a specialised police team was examining and extracting samples from a sizeable cache of volatile explosive material seized during the investigation of a ‘white-collar’ terror module.
Police said the main consignment had been kept in an open, secure zone inside the Nowgam station premises. DGP Nalin Prabhat, alongside MHA Joint Secretary (Kashmir) Prashant Lokhande, stated that the material was originally seized in the Jaish-e-Mohammed–linked module tracked to Faridabad, Haryana.
