Srinagar, Nov 18 (JKNS): On the occasion of the 28th death anniversary of the renowned writer, poet, Sufi and researcher, Gulshan Cultural Forum Kashmir organized a grand ceremony in Aarwah Beerwah today in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The ceremony was presided over by Syed Bashir Kausar, President of Gulshan Cultural Forum.
Renowned Sufi poet Sheikh Ghulam Rasool was the chief guest. Representative of the Cultural Academy Syed Iftikhar Ahmed and Lambardar Arwah Abdul Salam were also present in the presidium.
Noted writer and educationist Ghulam Muhammad Dar and Gulshan Badrani presented papers on the life and literary achievements of Shahbaz.
Secretary of the Forum Khurshid Khamosh presented the welcome address. The program began with Kashmiri folk music, and renowned Sufi singer Ghulam Hassan Shah and his companions enthralled the audience by presenting Shahbaz’s poetry.
In the second session of the program, Hakeem Shahbaz’s valuable contributions in the literary, scientific, cultural and physical fields were highlighted. In addition to Peerzada Mohammad Ashraf, many other noted speakers spoke on the occasion.
In the third session, local poets paid tribute to the late Shahbaz in verse. Among the poets who participated in this poetic session include Maqbool Shaida, Mumtaz Gufbali, Ali Muhammad Gowhar, Abdul Ahad Dilbar, Ghulam Hassan Shayiq, Aashiq Makhami, Muhammad Yousuf Malik, Idrees Badrani, Ahmed Bin Fayaz, Hakeem Abdul Rehman Shahbaz.
