Srinagar, Nov 21 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for approving 150 MGNREGA person-days for Jammu & Kashmir, terming the move a crucial support for flood-affected rural households.
In a post on X, LG’s office, as per news agency JKNS, said the Centre has enhanced the number of person-days to 150 for J&K, aimed at strengthening livelihood security in rural areas affected by recent natural calamities.
The post further mentioned that 1962 Panchayats across the Union Territory had been declared flood-affected, causing significant distress to rural households.
“Special relief was sought from the Government of India and today’s decision will ensure stable income for vulnerable families, reduce economic hardship, and help create durable community assets,” post reads. (JKNS)
