Doda, Nov 28 (JKNS): Doda Police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly uploading highly provocative and communally sensitive content on social media, a post that authorities say was capable of disturbing public peace and fostering communal disharmony in the region.
Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Doda Police have registered a case against an individual and subsequently arrested for uploading highly provocative and communally sensitive content on social media, thereby promoting enmity and disturbing public harmony.
Today, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Doda by Hassan Babur Nehru S/o Zaffer Ullah Nehru, R/o Nehru Chowk, Doda, against Amreek Singh S/o Ranbir Singh, R/o Beoli, Doda.
In his complaint, the complainant alleged that the accused is a habitual offender who frequently livestreams inflammatory and communal speeches on Facebook.
He further stated that on 26-11-2025, the accused had uploaded a post containing highly abusive, derogatory, and communal remarks against a particular community through his Facebook account titled “Panchmukhi Pahadi Rajpoot.”
Statement further reads that, The said post has been widely shared and circulated on social media platforms, thereby promoting hatred, ill-will, and enmity between communities and hurting religious sentiments. The content, uploaded knowingly and intentionally, is prima facie capable of disturbing public peace and communal harmony in the region.
It is further reported that the accused had previously been arrested in March 2023 for uploading similar hateful content and was sent to preventive detention in District Jail Bhaderwah.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Case FIR No. 269/2025 U/S 196 BNS has been registered at Police Station Doda, and investigation has been set into motion, it reads.
Doda Police urge the public to use social media responsibly and refrain from sharing or endorsing any content that may affect communal harmony. Strict action shall be taken against individuals involved in circulating any provocative content, promoting hatred, misinformation, or communal disharmony, reads the statement. (JKNS)
