NC Working Committee Reaffirms Push for Special Status, Statehood; Extends Full Support to Omar-Led Govt

Srinagar, Nov 28 (JKNS): The rulling National Conference Working Committee concluded its two-day session with a unanimous reaffirmation of its core political stand the restoration of Jammu & Kashmir’s special status and immediate return of full statehood.
All members of the Committee said in the press conference as per news agency JKNS stated that the two-day Working Committee meeting held on November 27 and 28, 2025, unanimously adopted seven key resolutions addressing political, security and public safety concerns in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Committee reaffirmed the party’s core commitments and extended full support to the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Reaffirmation of Special Status

Beginning with its primary political stand, the Working Committee unanimously reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. The party stated that the issue remains central to the dignity and aspirations of the people, and vowed to continue its principled and lawful struggle for its complete restoration.

Demand for Immediate Restoration of Statehood

In its second resolution, the Committee urged the Government of India to immediately restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The members recalled that the return of statehood has been promised on the floor of Parliament, reiterated publicly on multiple occasions, and acknowledged by the Supreme Court’s Constitution Bench.

Condemnation of Delhi Terror Attack

The Working Committee strongly condemned the horrific terror attack in Delhi, expressing deep grief and extending condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. The party said that in a civilized society, there is no space for violence and such acts must be dealt with firmly and decisively.

Concern Over Nowgam Blast

The fourth resolution expressed serious concern over the Nowgam blast. The Committee conveyed condolences to the affected families and demanded that the incident be investigated at the highest level. They insisted that responsibility be fixed for any violation or deviation from standard operating procedures.

Protection of J&K Residents Across India

Raising alarm over increasing reports of harassment, the Working Committee condemned the targeting of students, traders and residents of Jammu and Kashmir in different parts of the country.
The Committee stressed that Kashmiris must not be stereotyped or profiled and urged all state governments to ensure their safety, dignity and protection.
“Not every Kashmiri is a terrorist or a supporter of terror,” the resolution stated firmly.

Reaffirmation of Manifesto Commitments

The sixth resolution reiterated the party’s dedication to fulfilling all promises made in its manifesto. The Committee emphasized that governance must align with the aspirations and expectations of the people.

Full Support to Omar Abdullah–Led Government

Concluding the meeting, the Working Committee unanimously reaffirmed its full support to the Omar Abdullah–led government. The members urged the administration to continue working tirelessly to uphold the dignity of the people and address their aspirations with sincerity and accountability. (JKNS)
