Srinagar, Nov 29 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir is heavily dependent on business partnerships, effective promotion, and favourable weather particularly snowfall, which plays a decisive role in attracting visitors during winter.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister as per news agency JKNS said, “Wherever there are business-to-business relations, it is expected that people associated with the tourism industry will benefit. Promotion and marketing remain the biggest driving forces behind tourism.”
He noted that the ongoing season has been particularly challenging. “This year has not been easy for us in terms of tourism whether it is Pahalgam, Delhi, or Naugam,” he remarked.
Omar Abdullah emphasised that snowfall is the primary catalyst for winter footfall. “The biggest factor contributing to tourist arrivals at this time of year is snow. November has been completely dry. We are now hoping for a good spell of snow in December,” he said.
Despite the lack of snowfall, he stated that tourists continue to visit popular destinations. “Visitors are still arriving in Pahalgam and other parts of the Valley, but fresh snowfall will significantly enhance the tourism flow,” the CM added. (JKNS)
