Young Girl Attempts Self-Immolation at Pratap Park, Shifted to Hospital; Police Begin Inquiry

Srinagar, Nov 29 (JKNS): Panic gripped Pratap Park on Saturday afternoon after a young girl allegedly attempted to set herself on fire, eyewitnesses said.

Reports reaching to news agency JKNS that the girl reportedly poured an inflammable liquid over herself before igniting it, leaving onlookers stunned.

Bystanders immediately rushed forward to save her, managing to extinguish the flames. She was later shifted to a hospital with burn injuries. Her identity and medical condition were not immediately known.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation to determine what led to the self-harm attempt.

An official said that the girl had sustained burn injuries and is undergoing treatment. Further details are awaited. —(JKNS)
