“New Industrial Policy for J&K will soon be implemented” LG outlined his vision of development for J&K in an interview with All India Radio Network
Lieutenant governor of Jammu & Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha sketched his vision of development for J&K in his first ever interview with All India Radio Network at Srinagar. Speaking to famed broadcaster Satish Vimal, the LG said that his government was committed for uniform development of all the areas of J&K. He said that the 55 thousand crore developmental package of the central government has given impetus to the infrastructural development in J&K. “ We have got two AIIMS, two IITs, two IIMs, one NIFT and five new medical colleges in J&K during a very brief period. Four-lane roads are being constructed throughout J&K in all districts,” said Manoj Sinha. In reply to a question he said that many revolutionary changes are happening in agriculture and its allied sectors in J&K. He said that the government is reframing the developmental plan for agricultural sector in light of the scientific developments and technological advances in the fields for much more yield and the marketing of the crop for the ultimate benefit of the farmer or the fruit grower. When asked about the corruption in the government machinery in J&K, LG said that he will be the last person to tolerate any kind of corrupt working practice. He said that multi-tier grievance redressal mechanisms have been put in place in the UT all corrupt officials and officers will be punished severely. In reply to another question, LG said that he has directed all DCs and SSPs to meet people daily from 10.30 am for an hour for public issues and concerns and again he has announced Wednesday as the ‘Block-Day’ where at block level, public issues will be heard every week. Manoj Sinha announced that in the implementation of Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojna, J&K ranks number one in India. When Satish Vimal asked him about the hazards of electricity shortage in Kashmir during winters and in Jammu during summers, LG assured that the situation will be better now as the J&K government has sought extra electricity supply for J&K for winters. He also said that government has taken up a mega electricity revival mission by which, J&K will be an ‘Electricity Surplus’ entity within four or five years only. He said that we have taken steps for producing extra 3000 megawatts of electricity in J&K within next four or five years. When the LG was asked about the industrial development in J&k, he said that the new industrial policy for J&K will be announced and implemented soon. It will change the employment scenario of J&K. He said that the union finance ministry has already approved the policy and soon after the cabinet approval it will be in force. HE said that skill development was another priority of J&K government. He also informed that a Skill Development Park had already been set up with private partnership in Srinagar and in Jammu it is being established. In reply to a question about the new land laws, Manoj Sinha said that it has been wrongly interpreted in media. “We have about 88 percent of the land which is agricultural or forestry land in J&K and not a single inch of that land can be sold to any non local resident as per the law. Only 12 percent land can be utilized for industrial set-up, tourism or service sector set-up, or educational set-ups. This will also be in the interest of the people of J&K as we will have immense job creations for the youth and it will boost the economy and businesses in J&K,” said Manoj Sinha. This interview is being broadcast from all the stations of AIR in J&K at 9.30 pm today.
