Srinagar, Dec 14 (JKNS): A fire broke out in the Old Barzulla area of Srinagar on Sunday morning, causing damage to four residential houses, officials said.
An official told news agency JKNS, The Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Control Room received a distress call at around 9:46 AM, following which fire tenders from F&ES Headquarters, Fire Station Rawalpora, and Fire Station Gowkadal were immediately rushed to the spot at 9:47 AM.
On reaching the scene, firefighters found that the blaze had engulfed four attached residential houses, including two double-storied and two triple-storied structures. Firefighting operations were launched swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, official said.
Official further added that, one house was severely damaged, while three others suffered partial damage, particularly to their rooftops and attic portions.
The firefighting operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Director F&ES Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, Mobilising Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah, and DFO City Mohammad Ayoub.
The fire has been brought under control, and cooling operations were underway at the time of filing this report. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and is under investigation.
No loss of life or injuries has been reported in the incident. Further details are awaited. (JKNS)
