Cloudy Spell to Persist in J&K; Light Snow Likely at Isolated Higher Reaches: MeT

Srinagar, Dec 14 (JKNS): The Meteorological Department Srinagar has predicted a continuation of partly to generally cloudy weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the next several days, with chances of light snowfall at isolated higher reaches, mainly in North and Central Kashmir.

Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency JKNS that weather on December 14 and 15 is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with the possibility of very light snowfall at isolated higher altitude areas during late night or early morning hours.

He said that from December 16 to 18, the Union Territory is likely to witness partly to generally cloudy conditions without any significant weather activity.

According to the forecast, December 19 and 20 may again see cloudy weather, with chances of very light snowfall at isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir during late night or early morning.

Dr Mukhtar Ahmad further stated that on December 21, weather conditions are expected to turn generally cloudy towards evening, with the possibility of light rain or snow at isolated to scattered places in the Kashmir Division and at isolated locations in the Jammu Division.

From December 22 to 26, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy across Jammu and Kashmir, he added.

Meanwhile, the MeT Department has issued an advisory stating that shallow to moderate fog is likely to persist at many places in the Kashmir Division and at isolated places in the Jammu Division, which may lead to reduced visibility during night and early morning hours.

Commuters have been advised to exercise caution while travelling, particularly during foggy conditions. (JKNS)
