LOLAB VILLAGE MELA

In continuation with its efforts to bridge the gap between jawan and awam, 28 RR Battalion (JAK RIF) organised a Village Mela for locals of Lolab on 05 Nov 2020 at Model Village, Chandigam. The event started with the enthralling performance by Students of AGS, CHANDIGAM which mesmerised the audience. Be it the awe inspiring Patriotic Dance, the high spirited Bhangra, the Rouf Dance showing the culture of Kashmir in the form of dance or the dance-play on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan giving the locals a message on the importance of cleanliness in our lives, the participants ensured that the crowd stood there on their feet with eyes glued on stage.
The event also included various activities organised keeping in mind the youth & women folk of the valley. The event saw huge participation in terms of locals who were very excited to be part of such event and praised army for their efforts.The other on-going events such as Free medical check-up, Drug Awareness campaign ,food items of different cuisine and shops selling items prepared by locals girls in VTC Chandigam saw huge participation.
However, the kids were more interested in playing various games being organised such as jalebi race, musical chair, break the pyramid.
The event also saw local Ikhwans being felicitated by the army and their wards being given jobs in Army & free scholarships in AGS and VTC.
The event was attended by many dignitaries from both civil & army including Brig Neeraj Sharma, Commander, HQ 8 Sector RR, Sri Ram Ambarker, SSP Kupwara.
The event culminated with the felicitation of winners and runners up of Stand United Football Cup and providing exciting gifts to the winners of Lucky Draw.
All appreciated the efforts made by army and hoped that it will go a long way towards strengthening the bond between locals & army.
