Sopore, Dec 18 (JKNS): Nasir Aijaz Sofi, a 10th-grade student of Ahmad Memorial High Field Scientific School, Dangerpora, has brought laurels to his hometown and the state of Jammu and Kashmir by winning a bronze medal in the Volleyball Championships 2025 held in China.
Organized by the International School Federation (ISF), the championship saw participation from top teams across the globe. Nasir represented J&K and competed against teams from countries like Iran, China, and Brazil.
Speaking to news agency JKNS, Nasir expressed his gratitude towards Ahmad Memorial Scientific School, Dangerpora, for providing him with the platform to showcase his talent. “I am thankful to our school chairman, Altaf Hussain Mir, teachers, and coaches who guided me throughout my journey,” he said.
Nasir also acknowledged the unwavering support of his family, particularly his grandfather, Ab Rasheed Sofi, and elder brother, who have been his pillars of strength. “My journey from school to zonal, district, state, national, and now international level has been incredible,” he added.
The young volleyball sensation has set his sights on playing for the Indian national team and is determined to bring more accolades to his state and country.
Nasir’s achievement has been made possible by the guidance of coaches Rayees Ahmad,Jalal U din Qadir, Azhar Aziz, Naresh Kumar,and Pratik sir,who have played a pivotal role in his success.
