Army JCO Succumbs to Gunshot Injury While on Duty in Samba

Jammu, Dec 24 (JKNS): An Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) died after sustaining a gunshot injury while on duty in Samba district of Jammu division on Wednesday, official sources said.

Sources told news agency JKNS that the JCO was injured during duty hours and was immediately shifted to a medical facility for treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials said that, prima facie, there is no terror-related angle involved in the incident. The exact circumstances under which the gunshot injury occurred are being ascertained.

An investigation has been initiated, and more details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses. —(JKNS)
