Srinagar, Dec 26 (JKNS): Beig Fardeen Shamim, a promising football talent from Army Public School (APS) Srinagar, has carved a distinct identity at the national level, earning recognition for his outstanding performances and disciplined conduct as a Junior NCC cadet, with his name now recommended for a State Award under the Under-15 category.
Army Public School (APS) Srinagar, the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC), the J&K Football Association (JKFA) and 1 J&K Battalion NCC, Srinagar, as young football sensation Beig Fardeen Shamim continues to shine at the national level while exemplifying discipline as a Junior NCC cadet, as per news agency JKNS.
Under the aegis of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), fresh trials for the Junior National Football Championship 2024–25 were conducted by JKSC and JKFA at the Polo Ground Synthetic Turf, Srinagar. Over 2,000 footballers from across Jammu and Kashmir participated in the trials.
Among the selected elite players, Beig Fardeen Shamim once again stood out, earning his place in the J&K Junior Football Team through an outstanding performance.
Despite his young age, Fardeen has built an enviable sporting profile. His achievements include selection for the Sub-Junior National Football Championship (2023–24) and the Junior National Football Championship (2024–25), along with participation in prestigious tournaments such as the Northern Command Championship, Reliance Foundation Championship, Dr. B.C. Roy Sub-Junior Championship in Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) and the Dr. B.C. Roy Football Championship in Assam. He also led his team to victory as Champion of the 7-A-Side Warriors Championship in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Currently, Fardeen is undergoing advanced training at the National Football Camp, supported by the J&K Sports Council, as part of preparations for upcoming national competitions where he is expected to represent Jammu and Kashmir with distinction.
Beyond the football field, Beig Fardeen Shamim is a disciplined Junior NCC cadet and a committed student of APS Srinagar.
He has received professional coaching under renowned international and national football coaches Ishfaq Ahmed, Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo and Javid Ahmed Sofi at the Sports Football Academy (SFA), along with consistent guidance from coaches at APS Srinagar.
Adding another feather to his cap, Fardeen has been selected for upcoming international football trials in Austria and Germany, having been shortlisted from among more than 13,000 footballers and students across Jammu and Kashmir—a remarkable milestone for a player from the Under-15 category.
It is also noteworthy that Fardeen’s father, Beig Shamim Ahmed, is a senior accredited journalist, widely known for his responsible journalism and consistent contributions towards peace-building and highlighting government and security forces’ initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
Congratulating the young achiever, Principal APS Srinagar, Shri Rajeev Choudhary, said that Fardeen’s journey reflects not only individual excellence but also the emerging football culture and sporting potential of the Union Territory.
He added that Fardeen’s dedication, discipline and competitive success bring immense pride to the institution and the region.
Recognising his exceptional achievements, the APS Srinagar management has formally forwarded Beig Fardeen Shamim’s name for the State Award under the Under-15 category.
In view of his consistent national-level performances and growing international exposure, there is a strong and unanimous recommendation that Beig Fardeen Shamim be felicitated with a State Award by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Such recognition would not only honour a deserving young sportsperson but also inspire thousands of youth across Jammu and Kashmir to pursue excellence in sports with discipline, dedication and integrity. (JKNS)
