Budgam Police Arrests Drug Peddler; Contraband Recovered

Budgam, Dec 28 (KNC): Continuing its sustained efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband in the Beerwah area.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, A police team from Police Station Beerwah, led by ASI Gh. Hassan, was on routine patrol duty in village Sadipora near Chewdara when they noticed a person carrying a nylon bag in a suspicious manner. On spotting the police party, the individual attempted to flee but was promptly apprehended.

During preliminary questioning, the suspect was identified as Adil Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohd Amin Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Beerwah. Upon searching the nylon bag, police recovered a semi-grinded charas-like substance weighing approximately 1 kilogram and 115 grams. One mobile phone was also seized from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 170/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Beerwah, and further investigation is underway.

Budgam Police reaffirm their commitment to eliminating drug abuse from society and urge the general public to share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking. (JKNS)
