Srinagar, Dec 28 (JKNS): Stressing the critical role of media in a democratic society, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) North Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman underscored that responsible journalism is the cornerstone of democracy, especially in an era marked by misinformation and fake news.
In a message shared on social media platform X, as per news agency JKNS, DIG Maqsood stated that journalism today demands rigorous fact-checking, ethical reporting, and an unwavering commitment to truth.
Post reads that, “The responsible journalism is the cornerstone of democracy,” “In an era of misinformation, journalism demands rigorous fact-checking, ethical reporting and an unwavering commitment to the truth,” DIG said in a post.
The message, issued from the Range Police Headquarters, Baramulla, reiterated that truth matters and responsible journalism remains essential for safeguarding democratic values. (JKNS)
