Budgam, Dec 30 (JKNS): In a prompt and decisive action, Chadoora Police arrested a local youth for allegedly harassing minor girls by spraying a chemical substance into their eyes while they were returning from tuition, triggering concern over the safety of children and reaffirming police resolve against crimes targeting minors.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Police Station Chadoora received a complaint from two parents alleging that their minor daughters were attacked by an unknown man while returning from tuition, who sprayed a chemical substance into their eyes.

Accordingly, FIR No. 209/2025 U/s 62 and 137 of BNS was registered at PS Chadoora and investigation was initiated. During the course of investigation, CCTV footage and other technical evidence were analysed, leading to the identification of the suspect, it reads.

Statement further reads, Subsequent questioning and searches revealed that Raja Furqan, son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan, resident of Gowherpora, Chadoora, had carried out the act by spraying snow spray into the eyes of the victims.

The clothes and shoes worn by the accused at the time of the incident were recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified by the victims and has been arrested. It has also come to light that the accused had allegedly attempted similar acts in the past but was let off by locals after admonishment, without any formal complaint, it reads.

Budgam Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and remains committed to ensuring their safety. The general public is advised to report incidents of harassment or any such offences to the nearest police station without delay. (JKNS)
