Kupwara, Jan 11 (JKNS): A fire incident was reported at Main Bypass Kupwara on Sunday morning, which was swiftly controlled by the Fire and Emergency Services, preventing any major damage or spread to adjoining residential structures.
As per details available with news agency JKNS, the District Fire Control Room Kupwara received the fire call at around 9:33 am, following which fire tenders from Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters Kupwara were immediately rushed to the spot within a minute.
On reaching the location, firefighters found that an L-shaped three-storey residential house was involved in the blaze, with one side of the second floor and the attic portion affected by the fire.
Firefighting teams immediately launched operations and, owing to their prompt and coordinated response, managed to bring the fire under control in time, thereby averting its spread to nearby houses in the densely populated area. Cooling operations were later taken up to rule out any chances of re-ignition.
The on-ground operation was led by Incharge DFO Kupwara Ghulam Qadir, under the overall supervision of Assistant Director Fire & Emergency Services Arif Ahmad Mir, with effective mobilization and coordination by Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances that led to the incident, officials said. (JKNS)
