As per an official order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) and accessed by news agency JKNS, senior ministers and dignitaries have been designated to preside over Republic Day functions and take the salute at various district headquarters across the Union Territory on January 26, 2026.

According to the schedule, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary will preside over the Republic Day समारोह at Srinagar. Health, Education and Social Welfare Minister Sakeena Masood Itoo will take the salute at Anantnag, while Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs Minister Javed Ahmed Rana has been assigned Poonch. Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Javid Ahmad Dar will preside over the function at Baramulla, and Minister Satish Sharma will take the salute at Kathua.

The order further specifies that at district headquarters not assigned to ministers, the DDC Chairpersons will preside over the celebrations. At sub-divisional headquarters, the salute will be taken by the Sub-Divisional Magistrates, while at tehsil, block and municipal headquarters, the responsibility will lie with the Tehsildar or the senior-most civil officer, as decided by the concerned Deputy Commissioners.

The government has instructed all departments and district administrations to ensure that Republic Day celebrations are conducted in a smooth, dignified and well-coordinated manner across Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
