Budgam Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers; Contraband Seized

Budgam, Jan 15 (JKNS): Budgam Police, in their continued drive against drug trafficking, arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances in the Magam area of the district.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, A police party from Police Station Magam, led by SHO Inspector Mudasir Hussain, while on routine patrol duty at Fire Service Link Road, Magam, noticed three individuals warming themselves near the Humri Canal. On seeing the police vehicle, the suspects attempted to flee but were promptly apprehended.

During personal search, a Charas-like substance weighing approximately 12 grams and processed Bang Patri weighing about 609 grams were recovered. The accused were arrested on the spot and the contraband was seized.

The arrested persons have been identified as Akther Abbas Bhat, S/o Mohd Maqbool Bhat, R/o Yegipora, Magam, Suhail Bhat, S/o Late Ali Mohd Bhat, R/o Kuchaypora, Magam and Syed Ubaid-ul-Ashiq, S/o Syed Ashiq Hussain, R/o Yegipora, Magam.

Accordingly, FIR No. 04/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Magam, and further investigation is in progress.

Budgam Police reiterate their commitment to eradicating drug abuse from society and appeal to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling or trafficking. (JKNS)
