MAJOR GOPI SINGH RATHORE, SC MEMORIAL NORTH KASHMIR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP CONCLUDES WITH A GRAND FINALE

10 NOV 2020 ;In an initiative to further improve the bond with the youth and to give them an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent Bandipora RR under the aegis of Watlab Sector organised Major Gopi Singh Rathore, SC Memorial North Kashmir Football Premier Competition at Sher-e-Kashmir, Stadium from 02-10 Nov 2020. A total of 12 teams from three districts of North Kashmir i.e, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara participated in the tournament.

After the arduous contest between the participating teams in league matches, quarter finals and semi finals, it was Team SFCA, Bandipora and Team Star Line, Sopore which could manage to sail through the rough tides of the tournament. After the display of impeccable sportsmanship, team spirit and do or die attitude, it was Team Star Line Sopore which won the grand finale by 2-1 and became North Kashmir Football champions.

The final match culminated with felicitation of the winner and runner up teams and also the golden Boot and Golden glubbs award. The chief guest of the event Major General HS Sahi, YSM, SM GOC Kilo Force gave away the prizes and applouded the sterling performance of both the teams and congratulated the awam of Bandipora for attending and supporting the event in such huge numbers.

The cheering crowds was a sight to see and it was their loud support which led to their teams achieving such a great feat. The effort of Indian Army for organizing such a huge event was appreciated by one and all who were awestruck with the magnanimity of the event and the tournament has become the talk of the town.
