Army Pays Tribute to Soldier Martyred in Kishtwar Encounter

Jammu, Jan 19 (JKNS): The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps on Monday paid rich tributes to Special Forces Havildar Gajendra Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a counter-terrorism operation in the Singpura area of Kishtwar district during the ongoing Operation TRASHI-I.

In a post on X as per news agency JKNS, the White Knight Corps said that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and all ranks expressed deep respect and homage to the fallen soldier, who laid down his life on the night of January 19, 2026, while engaging terrorists in challenging terrain.

The encounter broke out during a joint search operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police after specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. During the fierce exchange of fire, Havildar Gajendra Singh sustained critical injuries and succumbed while displaying exceptional courage and devotion to duty.

The Army said that several other soldiers also sustained splinter injuries during the encounter. The injured personnel were immediately evacuated for medical treatment, and their condition is stated to be stable.

The Corps lauded Havildar Gajendra Singh’s indomitable bravery, valour and selfless service, stating that his sacrifice will always be remembered with pride by the nation.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the White Knight Corps said it stands firmly with them in this hour of profound grief. Meanwhile, the operation in the area remains underway, with additional forces deployed to track and neutralise the terrorists. —(JKNS)
