Sopore, Jan 22 (JKNS): In view of an adverse weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sopore has issued an advisory urging the general public to remain cautious, as widespread heavy to moderate rain and snowfall is expected across the Kashmir Division from January 22 to January 28, 2026, with heightened risk of landslides and related hazards in vulnerable areas.
In an advisory issued by additional district magistrate Sopore a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, In view of Weather Forecast issued by IMD Srinagar predicting widespread heavy to moderate rains/snow (at higher/plain reaches) in Kashmir Division from 22nd January to 28th January 2026, with peak activity during 22nd night to 24th morning and 26th to 28th January alongwith chances of landslides, mudslides & shooting stones most likely over the vulnerable areas.
Necessary precautions are required to be taken by the general public, particularly by farmers, who are advised to suspend all farm operations during prediction period, ot reads.
As such general public is requested not to venture out to Nallas, Streams, Rivers, Irrigation Canals and other Water Bodies till weather improves. Further all line departments shall keep men and machinery ready to meet any eventuality, if any arises, it reads.
