Srinagar, Jan 28 (JKNS): Amid mounting resentment and anxiety among students over the prolonged shutdown of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) website, senior officials of the Board on Wednesday assured that the portal would be made functional within the next two days.
Students expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that JKBOSE had earlier issued a public notice claiming the website would remain down for only four to five days. However, despite ten days having passed since the shutdown, the website continues to remain inaccessible, triggering widespread concern, a group students told news agency JKNS.
As per a public notice issued by JKBOSE on January 16, 2026, the official website was scheduled to remain temporarily unavailable from January 19 for a period of four to five days due to technical upgradation in line with operational guidelines.
The notice had informed that all online services, including re-evaluation applications and photocopy of answer scripts, would remain suspended during the period, while assuring stakeholders that services would resume after completion of the upgrade.
Students said that critical services such as re-evaluation applications, photocopy of answer scripts, uploading of documents, and other examination-related formalities remain completely suspended, adding to confusion and distress.
Many students, particularly those awaiting result-related services, said the unexpected delay has heightened anxiety and uncertainty at a crucial academic stage.
Speaking to news agency JKNS, Chairman JKBOSE, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, said the website is almost ready and is currently undergoing final-stage integration.
“The delay occurred because data is being transferred from the old domain to the new state data centre, which is necessary to ensure proper data security,” he said.
Sheikh further informed that the Board has also changed its domain name from jkbose.nic.in to the state government domain jkbose.jk.gov.in, which required additional technical work.
“Human integration gateway issues are also being rectified. The technical team has assured us that the website will be fully functional by January 29,” he added.
Responding to queries regarding re-evaluation and other pending processes, Sheikh said that necessary notices are ready but will be issued only after the website becomes operational.
“We wanted to complete gateway integration first to avoid further issues. These processes will be initiated shortly after the website goes live,” he said. —(JKNS)
