Jammu, Jan 31 (JKNS): Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Karnah Assembly Constituency, Javed Ahmed Marchal, on Wednesday met Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, at Raj Bhavan.
He was accompanied by Khalid Shujat Budhana and Pirzada Ilyas.
During the meeting, the MLA raised several pressing public issues related to the Karnah sub-division and briefed the Lieutenant Governor in detail about the hardships faced by residents of this border and geographically difficult region.
Javed Ahmed Marchal highlighted the non-posting of a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Karnah, stating that due to the absence of an SDM, people are forced to travel long distances to Kupwara for routine administrative work, causing serious inconvenience. He stressed that Karnah, being a remote border area, urgently requires a full-time SDM.
The MLA also demanded the establishment of Fire Service Stations in Tangdhar, Ghabra, and Teetwal, noting that delays in emergency response during fire incidents in border areas often result in heavy loss of life and property.
Additionally, he raised concerns regarding the Sub-District Hospital Tangdhar, seeking the appointment of specialist doctors, availability of modern medical equipment, and overall improvement of basic healthcare facilities.
Responding to the issues, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assured the delegation that the posting of an SDM in Karnah would be completed within the coming week.
He further stated that necessary directions would be issued to concerned departments for strengthening the Sub-District Hospital Tangdhar and for establishing Fire Service facilities in the region.
Thanking the Lieutenant Governor for his positive response, MLA Javed Ahmed Marchal expressed hope that the assurances given would be implemented at the earliest, leading to significant relief for the people of Karnah.(JKNS)
