Anantnag, Feb 1 (JKNS): The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag has taken serious note of the non-utilisation of funds released under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI schemes for the financial year 2025–26 and directed all concerned institutions to ensure immediate utilisation of the unspent amounts.
According to an official communication issued by the Office of the Chief Education Officer Anantnag, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, a review meeting on the physical and financial progress of Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI components was held by the Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, on January 29, 2026, through virtual mode.
During the meeting, serious concern was expressed over poor expenditure despite funds having already been released to schools through assigned limits, it reads.
The CEO informed that directions have been passed to all levels for expediting utilisation of funds released through PFMS and the SPARSH portal, stressing that the district is already in the last quarter of the financial year. It was cautioned that any unspent funds will lapse after March 31, 2026, and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) will be held personally responsible, with action to follow against defaulters as per rules.
The communication further noted that SNA-02 PFMS reports of Samagra Shiksha and SPARSH reports of PM SHRI indicate that substantial funds remain unutilised at subordinate levels, reflecting lack of seriousness on the part of some Heads of Institutions.
The CEO has once again urged Principals and Headmasters to expedite expenditure, ensure completion of approved activities in a time-bound manner, and prevent lapse of funds in the district. (JKNS)
