Srinagar, Feb 1 (JKNS): The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been allocated Rs 43,290.29 crore in the Union Budget 2026-27, reflecting an increase of nearly Rs 2,000 crore over the current financial year.
As per figures accessed by news agency Jammu and Kashmir News Service (JKNS), the Union Finance Ministry has proposed total transfers of Rs 43,290.29 crore to J&K for the next fiscal year.
The revised assistance for the ongoing financial year has been pegged at Rs 41,340 crore, up from Rs 41,000.07 crore, indicating an enhancement of Rs 340 crore.
For 2026-27, the budget includes Rs 42,650 crore as central assistance to meet the resource gap of the Union Territory, Rs 279 crore as grants towards the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund, Rs 259 crore as equity for the Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project, and Rs 101 crore as support for capital expenditure.
