Qazigund, Feb 3 (JKNS): A major fire broke out at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Qazigund on Tuesday morning, causing severe damage to the school building.
An official told news agency JKNS that the flames quickly engulfed the structure, reducing large parts of the school to ashes before the fire could be brought under control.
Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) teams rushed to the site and launched extensive firefighting operations, receiving assistance from local residents to contain the blaze. Efforts are ongoing to completely douse the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and an assessment of the losses sustained is currently underway. (JKNS)
