Karnah,04 feb 2026(JKNS): On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the Indian Army organized an awareness camp at Kulsari Base Camp to educate the local population about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. The program saw enthusiastic participation from Ex-Servicemen (ESM), former Sarpanch, Lambardars, and senior citizens of the area.
An Army medical officer addressed the gathering and provided detailed information on various types of cancer, common symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of early diagnosis. The doctor emphasized that timely medical consultation and a healthy lifestyle can significantly reduce the risk of cancer and improve survival rates.
The awareness initiative was conducted under the direction of the 104 Infantry Brigade as part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to engage with the local community and promote public health. Participants appreciated the initiative and interacted with the medical team to clarify their doubts regarding cancer-related issues.
Speaking on the occasion, ESM President Qayoom Mir expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing such an important program. He said that awareness camps like these are highly beneficial for the public, especially in remote areas where access to medical information is limited.
Local residents welcomed the effort and urged for more such programs in the future to spread awareness about other health concerns as well.(JKNS)
