Srinagar, Feb 4 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has taken up the issue of alleged harassment and intimidation of an elderly Kashmiri patient in Saharanpur with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office, seeking immediate intervention and strict action against those involved.

National Convenor of JKSA, Nasir Khuehami, told news agency JKNS that he spoke to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Advisor, Awanish Kumar Awasthi, and briefed him in detail about the incident involving Mohd Wali Shah, an elderly Kashmiri man who was allegedly harassed while visiting Saharanpur for medical treatment.

Khuehami said the accused, identified as Yashasvi Arya—who claims to be the National President of the Hindu Yuva Shakti Sangathan—along with his associates, was captured on video intercepting, intimidating and harassing Kashmiri Muslim vendors and patients in the area.

He expressed serious concern over repeated incidents of targeting Kashmiris outside the Union Territory, stating that such acts create fear and insecurity among people travelling for livelihood and medical purposes.

Responding to the concerns, Awanish Awasthi assured full cooperation from the Chief Minister’s Office and said the matter has been taken seriously. He conveyed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will not tolerate any act of intimidation, violence or hate against Kashmiri traders, shawl sellers, labourers or patients.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Saharanpur Range and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Saharanpur, informed JKSA that the investigation is currently being conducted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Deoband. They said appropriate legal action will be taken against the accused after completion of the probe, strictly in accordance with the law.

Awasthi further assured that strict action will be taken in connection with the incident reported from Ramdaspur area of Saharanpur and reiterated the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure the safety, dignity and constitutional rights of all citizens, including those from Jammu and Kashmir.
