Pattan, Feb 11 (JKNS): The Naib Tehsildar Pattan and the Drug Inspector, accompanied by officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), carried out a surprise inspection of medical shops operating in and around the Community Health Centre (CHC) Pattan on Tuesday as part of a joint enforcement drive.
During the inspection, several pharmacies were checked for compliance with drug control regulations and government guidelines. The team examined licences, sale records, storage conditions of medicines, and overall adherence to prescribed norms to ensure public safety and quality standards.
Officials imposed a fine of ₹4,800 on some shopkeepers for various violations, including non-maintenance of proper records and minor regulatory lapses.
Besides regulatory irregularities, the enforcement team seized nearly 10,000 single-use polythene carry bags from different medical shops for violating the ban on single-use plastics enforced across the Union Territory.
Authorities stated that the drive was aimed at ensuring strict implementation of drug laws as well as environmental regulations. Shopkeepers were warned against using banned plastic items and advised to strictly follow all norms to avoid strict action in the future.
The inspection also helped raise awareness among traders, with officials adding that similar surprise checks will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance and safeguard public health.(JKNS)
