Srinagar, Feb 16 (JKNS): The Meteorological Department Srinagar on Monday said that no major rain or snowfall activity is expected across Jammu and Kashmir till the end of February.

Director MeT Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency JKNS said that overall weather conditions are likely to remain largely stable, with only isolated light snowfall over higher reaches on specific dates.

As per the forecast, there is a possibility of light snow at isolated higher reaches on February 17. From February 18 to 24, weather is expected to remain generally dry across the Union Territory.

On February 25 and 26, conditions may turn partly to generally cloudy. February 27 and 28 are also expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with chances of light snowfall over isolated higher reaches towards the evening or night of February 28.

For March 1 and 2, the weather is likely to stay generally cloudy with light snowfall at isolated higher elevations.

The MeT department has advised farmers to continue their farm operations, as weather conditions remain favourable. It also said that a gradual rise in both minimum and maximum temperatures at most places is likely to continue over the next seven days.

Meanwhile, the general public, especially those residing in snow-bound higher reaches, have been advised not to venture into sloppy and avalanche-prone areas as a precautionary measure. (JKNS)
