Srinagar, Feb 22 (JKNS): An awareness camp was organized today at Asia’s largest fish farm located in Kokernag, under the banner of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samriddhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY).

The camp witnessed active participation from several fish farm owners and fish farmers from across the district.

The Chief Project Officer attended the event as the Chief Guest. Deputy Inspector Fisheries Syed Manzoor Ahmad, along with other senior officials of the Fisheries Department, was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest and other speakers emphasized the need for fish farmers to take full advantage of government schemes, adopt modern aquaculture techniques, and work towards strengthening the fisheries sector. They highlighted that under PM-MKSSY, financial assistance, training, and technical guidance are being provided to fish farmers to enhance production and help achieve the goal of doubling farmers’ income.

The speakers urged fish farm owners to maintain close coordination with the Fisheries Department and avail themselves of available subsidies and other support measures.

During the camp, participants were given detailed information about various government schemes, loan facilities, and advanced aquaculture practices. Experts also conducted an interactive question-and-answer session, listened to the concerns of fish farmers, and assured them of necessary support and solutions.

The awareness camp concluded with a renewed commitment to boosting fish production and promoting sustainable growth in the fisheries sector. (JKNS)
