New Delhi, Feb 24 (JKNS): Northern Railway has decided to extend the Vande Bharat Express service to Jammu, enabling direct rail connectivity between Srinagar and Jammu from March 1, 2026.
According to an official communication as per news agency JKNS, the SVDK–SINA–SVDK Vande Bharat Express will now operate up to Jammu Tawi with effect from the said date. The train was earlier running between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
With the extension, passengers will be able to travel directly between Srinagar and Jammu without changing trains at Katra. Railway officials have also enhanced the train’s capacity by upgrading it from an 8-coach rake to a 20-coach rake to accommodate increased passenger demand.
The move is expected to strengthen rail connectivity in the Union Territory and facilitate smoother and more comfortable travel between the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region. (JKNS)
